Resource.nsf

PS : Hvilke fejl bliver rapporteret?

TECHNOTE :

Warning!: Before creating the Resource Reservation database, it is important to note that it is an agent-driven database.  This database should not be created on a mail server or a heavily-used Hub server.  The parameters used (listed below in Section B, "Creating A Site Profile") make the agent poll for new or modified documents every 1 minute.  This can negatively affect server performance and also the performance of the database itself.  It is recommended that this database be created on a server with a light load such as an application server or on a dedicated server.

Note:  This technical paper is pertinent to Notes/Domino 4.5x/4.6x.  For information on resource scheduling with Notes/Domino 5.x, refer to the document, "What Is and How to Set up Resource Scheduling for Notes/Domino 5.x Calendaring & Scheduling"

WHAT IS RESOURCE SCHEDULING?

The Resource Reservation database allows users to schedule and manage meeting resources.  Resources refer to any object or place that can be booked ("invited") as part of a group meeting.  Examples of resources are meeting (conference) rooms, projection equipment (overhead projectors), video conferencing equipment, food service, etc.  Users can select a particular resource and reserve a time for it.  Users can also choose a time and instruct the Resource Reservation database to find and display resources available during that time.

Note: Because the Resource Reservation process involves the use of AdminP, the Notes server is required to be certified with a hierarchical certifier.  The administration process (AdminP) is not supported in a non-hierarchical environment.

STEPS TO SET UP THE RESOURCE SCHEDULING

There are five steps, each of which is described in detail below, involved in setting up Resource Scheduling:

A.    Creating the Resource Reservations database
B.    Creating Site Profiles
C.    Creating Resources
D.    Reserving Resources from the Resource Reservations Database
E.    Viewing the Resources

A.    CREATING THE RESOURCE RESERVATIONS DATABASE

Note: Before creating this database, the Public Address Book must have a Notes server defined in the ACL as the Administration Server of the Public Address Book.  This is a requirement for AdminP.  Without AdminP functioning properly, the Resource Reservations Database will not work.

To create the database, do the following:

1.    Select File, Database, New from the Domino 4.5 menu.
2.    In the New Database dialog box, enter the Server name.
3.    Enter the Database Title (Resource Reservations) and File Name (RESOURCE.NSF).
4.    Select the Template: Resource Reservations (4.5) - RESRC45.NTF.
5.    Click OK to create the database.
6.    Edit the Access Control List of the Resource Reservation database by doing the following:
a.    Open or select the new database (on the Notes workspace).
b.    Select File, Database, Access Control.
c.    Add the appropriate users to the [CreateResource] role.  This will allow users with the [CreateResource] role to create resources in the database.
d.    Click the Advanced icon and add the server to the Administration Server field.

Important Notes:  In the ACL in the Resource Reservations database the Administration Server must be defined as the server name that the database is created on.  To access the Administration Server setting, select File, Database, Access Control and go to the Advanced panel.

*For more information about the AdminP, refer to pages 118-131 of the Domino 4.5 Administrator's Guide.

e.    Click OK to save the ACL changes.
7.    Move the focus (or click) off the Resource Reservations database and press the [F5] key in order to clear the cache.
8.    Double-click the Resource Reservations database icon to open it.  You should be prompted for the user ID password.

B.    CREATING A SITE PROFILE

A Site Profile is a document describing where a physical location is.  For example, North Reading Office (LNO) or North Reading Manufacturing (LNM) would each need a separate Site Profile document.

Perform the following steps in the Resource Reservation database in order to create a Site Profile:

1.    Click the Create Site Profile action button or select Create, Site Profile from the menu.
Note:  An editable Site Profile document will appear if the current user has the [CreateResource] role.
2.    Enter the Site name (the Domain name field will be automatically filled-in with the Organization from the current ID).
3.    Click the Save Profile action button.  (You must use this button to save the Profile.)
Note:  A background agent will process the resources.
4.    When you are prompted by a dialog box, choose the server on which this agent should run. (Enter the name of the server on which the Resource Reservations database resides.)
5.    Click OK to save and close the Site Profile document.

Important Notes:

The administrator's name who first activates the AutoProcessReservations agent in the Resource Reservation database must be listed in the field "Run restricted LotusScript agents", which is located in the Agent Manager section under "Agent Restrictions" in the Server document.

Additionally, be sure the NOTES.INI file contains the following parameters:

ServerTasks=Replica,Router,Update,Stats,AMgr,Adminp,Sched,CalConn
Note:  The AMgr,Adminp,Sched,CalConn are the important settings in this example)
AMgr_DocUpdateEventDelay=1 *
AMgr_DocUpdateAgentMinInterval=1  *
AMgr_NewMailEventDelay=1 *
Amgr_NewMailAgentMinInterval=1 *
Note:  The 1 stands for 1 minute.  The default is 30 minutes.

*Important Note to Administrators:  Setting these parameters to poll faster may impact the performance of the Domino 4.5 server.  It is highly recommended that the Resource Reservations database be created on a server with a light load.
